The HOT MEALS for ALL team have been swamped as we rushed to work through to the 1 YEAR mark of the food program. It has been a busy year and since the last update, many things have happened. This post will summarize our achievements, past activities since March 2022 as well as next steps.

Since March 2022:

- We continued to deliver daily Hot Meals as the Phuket economy reopened to receive tourists. Whilst the food queues have shortened as many have found their way back to work, the team started delivering meals to Myanmese camps, where lack of work and impoverished conditions remained. Additional locations where food packages were delivered to included local prisons as supply chain issues resulted in new inmates to go unfed whilst awaiting processing (not great, but thankfully Sunni was able to help out with her magic cooking hands).

- Phuket, like many places in the world has been hit by inflationary costs. Our food costs have gone up by 10% so we see ourselves having to be innovative with our menus in order to continue service.

1 YEAR Summary Results:

- Served in excess of 40,000 meals.

- Provided sustainable food program, using local produce, limited plastic packaging to help out thousands of families through covid and unemployment

- Deployed c. THB 1,000,000

- Galvanized c. 50 corporate volunteers and individual volunteers for daily food prepration and packing throughout the year

- Hired 2 local staff to assist with cooking whom were actually in our food queue!

Next Steps:

As our funding has been fully deployed, this program is now closed. However, the New Calvary chapel in Patong is continuing with a smaller outreach program to provide Food bags, and daily meals to the needy. Please contact Alan at this email if you want to help out!

Happy Chinese New Year to all. We closed the kitchen last week in order for everyone to celebrate with close family and friends. Head chef Sunee unfortunately also got into an accident on her motorbike, which has put her out of commission for a bit. Thankfully, we have Khun Poo and her husband to help continue the cooking. Clock doesnt stop for the hungry!

Meals/ Meals Served:

7 Feb - Bamboo shoot with chicken; chicken porridge [230]

8 Feb - Spicy mince chicken with rice; vegetables with eggs and rice [220]

9 Feb - Noodles with vegetables [200]

10 Feb - Ginger chicken with rice; Tuna porridge [200]

11 Feb - Seaweed chicken soup; Tuna porridge [200]

Total meals = 1,066

Whilst we see improved tourism and a small reduction in our food queues as many have returned back to work. Most jobs still do not offer full pay so there is still significant struggle, and so, there is still a significant number of needy families, who have been affected by slow economic recovery. We are looking for further funding to keep the kitchen operational so please donate generously to keep our work going.
