Menu: Salted vegetable chicken soup and rice

Meals served: 284

Busy day in the kitchen! Sunee and Poo turned out 284 meal packs of salted vegetable chicken soup. We also welcomed first time volunteers to our kitchen who did a great job at depositing soup in bags and tying it with a rubber band, thai hawker style. Not at all an easy task!

We are happy to have helped so many with our food relief program. We cannot solve all the problems but we can help with 1 hot meal a day. It costs us $1 to make, we use sustainable packaging to try and limit our damage to the environment and our food is made with love and positivity.

Everyone that comes to collect the food packs are so thankful for 1 hot meal a day. It costs us $1 to make 1 pack of food, we have a goal to serve 20,000 meals over the course of these 6 months and we aim to use sustainable packaging to be kind to the environment. Menu: Spicy long bean curry with tuna, egg and rice; chicken porridge, Thai omelette and rice

Meals served: 253

We had 3 menu items today to distribute to the needy that came. Sunee's chicken porridge is probably one of the most beloved foods in Patong, it is simple, nutritious and yummy.

Also, very exciting to highlight that Richie and Maybelle, of Maybelle's Coffee Garden in Kata, came in to vlog on our kitchen's operations. Richie and Maybelle's Youtube channel covers their experiences in Phuket and is authentic, fun and honest. They were keen to understand when Aland and Sunee started their food giving journey, and how many packs we were distributing daily, and of course, what we needed ($$, volunteers, corporate sponsorships)

Check out the video here! Richie and Maybelle have kindly chosen to donate the Youtube ad revenues to our kitchen, so please watch (all the ads) and subscribe to their channel, like the video for maximum impact.

Glad to see that Maybelle likes this dish!! We love it too!

So, the food queues not getting any shorter. Richie and Maybelle helped to distribute packs yesterday and got to experience firsthand how many are in the line.

We have come to know many of the people who come take our food. Most held a job before, about half are now in work at reduced pay and therefore not earning a living wage. Set against rent obligations, putting their children through school, medical bills...the situation we see here is not unique. All we can do is try to help with 1 hot meal a day. We have yet to come across free-loaders that somehow think it is a better deal to take free food, wait in line in the hot sun than try to find honest work that pays.

Our new goals are to make at least 200 packs a day and continue our sustainable packaging. We need funding to continue this work. Please help by donating. https://www.simplygiving.com/appeal/daily-hot-meals-in-phuket

Many thanks to Agoda.com for sending their volunteers onsite to help out. We also had Halloween treats donated by our volunteers. Home-made oreo mummies and chocolate muffin spiders were gone very quickly!

We are glad to help out the needy with one hot meal a day. The daily queue stretches all the way back the Patong main street.

Please help us provide a hot meal. It only costs THB 32 per pack (as we use sustainable packaging). Please donate here. https://www.simplygiving.com/appeal/daily-hot-meals-in-phuket

We were happy to give the meals and also treats to the kids. Look at their happy faces! This makes our day. We are a community effort and it takes many people to make this work, the cooks in the kitchen, the volunteers who pack, the donors who give money or goods. And it is wonderful to see how it all comes together.

Please donate generously as we have scaled up our program. We are targeting now:

- 20,000 hot meals

- continued sustainable packaging

- 200-300 meals daily

- Achieve financing till 31 March 2022

Click here to donate to our community effort.

We are tracking well against our meal target goals. We have been overachieving in fact, because the need for hot meals has been so great. Please help us by donating.
