Menu: Paneng curry chicken and rice

Meals served: 289

Today, 289 meals were packed and served. Thank you volunteers and team Sunee, Poo and her husband for helping to cook. We see longer and longer food queues and with the holidays round the corner, we hope to get more funding to feed more people. Please donate here if you wish to help us achieve providing a hot meals.

What is a reality that we have to recognise is that the food queues may not improve until the economy fully resumes. What the "new normal" will look like we are not sure as it is clear that many small businesses may not return as tourism volumes will be much lower than before.

Look at the long queues that come daily to collect our hot meals. We had hoped we would not have to raise funding beyond 2021, but if this situation does not get better, we will have to continue our fundraising to provide hot meals to the needy.

For those that wish to volunteer, do email us to coordinate. Our email is hotmealsphuket@icloud.com

Menu: Thai noodle salad, chicken porridge

Meals served: 269

We had volunteers from Agoda.com coming in today to help with the packing. It has been really helpful to get extra hands as that allows Sunee and her team to focus on cooking while the packing gets underway. We are always looking for volunteers so if you would like to pitch in, please email us at hotmealsphuket@icloud.com

We are happy to once again serve in excess of 1,000 meals this week. As far as we can tell, the queues are building up, we are seeing new faces and still there isn't enough to give away. When we started on this round of fundraising, it seemed like serving 150 meal packets a day would suffice, but we were so wrong. We are packing close to 300 a day now and it is going going going. We speak to the many that queue up and many are in partial work or full work at half pay, it's just tough for the average joe. Things seem to be opening up, but it will take time for the economy to normalize.

In the meantime, we know our hot meals make many happy. The local people of Phuket have many issues to deal with but we help with providing one hot meal a day. It costs us c. $1 to make and we use predominantly sustainable packaging. So please help us make our food relief program a success by donating! Please donate here.

Menu: Tom Yum soup and rice

Meals served: 234

Spicy tom yum really thai style, a bit tough for the farang palate but great for the locals who readily wait in line for the hot meal.

Thank you to our volunteers for being consistently helpful and providing steady hands. Its a big team effort which we all work together to make it happen!

Long queues start forming around 4pm now.
